Photo Galleries from Victor Alcorn’s Site

The photography section of Victor Alcorn’s archived website was organised as a small showcase. Rather than a huge archive, it offered a few samples and invited interested visitors to ask for a longer portfolio presentation.

What the galleries contained

Two sets of images were displayed:

  • A surveillance-themed gallery. The site named surveillance photography as a specialty, and this set illustrated that side of the work.
  • A general gallery. A broader selection representing the other styles mentioned elsewhere on the site, such as portraits and event coverage.

How a portfolio is usually used

Short galleries like these are typical for independent photographers. They are meant to give a quick feel for style, lighting and subject choice, while a fuller portfolio is shared during a conversation about a specific project. That approach lets the photographer select examples relevant to what a client has in mind, for instance weddings for one person and commercial product work for another.

Looking at photography samples

When you review any photographer’s examples, a few questions help:

  1. Is the style consistent from one image to the next?
  2. Do the samples show the kind of job you need done?
  3. How does the photographer handle difficult light, movement or crowded scenes?
  4. Are the pictures sharp where they should be, and do skin tones and colours look natural?
